What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a long term or chronic condition known by the widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments, fascia (the white sheathing you see on meat over the muscle that you buy), and tendons with chronic fatigue and up to 18 tender points on the body. The 18 tender points are places where even a small pressure can cause pain. The doctor’s diagnosis of Fibromyalgia requires that at least 11 of them be active and sensitive to touch.
In Fibromyalgia the pain has no obvious cause is generalized in nature and those who sufferer from Fibromyalgia usually feel aching, throbbing, burning, or stiff. Many times severe headaches, migraines or eye aches are present as well, and a sense of tiredness. Tension headaches are very common as well. Women are much more likely to develop Fibromyalgia than men and the likelihood of developing Fibromyalgia or cfids disorder increases with age.
Symptoms of Fibromyalgia
The symptoms of Fibromyalgia will vary over time depending on how long the disease has progressed and on numerous other factors such as general physical condition, the weather (damp and cold), stress, degree of physical activity or even the time of day.

The Causes of Fibromyalgia or why did it happen
to me?
There is no real understanding of why the illness variously called Fibomyalgia or (CFS) or (Cfids) happens to anyone. There are no defined root causes of Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia is diagnosed by a combination of various factors including changes in Brain Chemicals. Most people with have abnormal levels of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. Most also have low levels of the sleeping chemicals called Melatonin and Serotonin. We also are likely to have high levels of substance P, which sends the pain messages to the brain. Substance P being high transmits more pain to our brain than would normally be present. This means we are not likely to sleep well with low serotonin, so sleep is often broken with hourly visits to the bathroom or just waking up frequently leaving us very tired in the mornings or with other problems such as restless leg syndrome or sleep apnea.
Hormonal imbalances such as low thyroid function, estrogen or progesterone being out of balance, and the stress hormones like Cortisol and DHEA being out of whack, may also play a role in causing Fibromyalgia in some people.
Many of us that have had an accident or trauma earlier in life have found it can trigger Fibromyalgia. I had a car wreck, with a compound fracture of my arm and the shattered bone pressing against the main artery, along with the terror believing that my child was dead from the accident was my trigger. Car accidents and high stress situations, and high stress careers are known to be triggers.
Genetics can also be a factor since Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome seems to run in families. Both my wife and her sisters had it for example.
Some chronic infections and viral infections appear to trigger or aggravate Fibromyalgia. Those who have had a rheumatic disease, like Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus, are also more likely to develop Fibromyalgia.
